KS2 were lucky enough to have a visit from the celebrated children’s author Vashti Hardy as part of the Northern Children’s Book Festival.

This afternoon Year 5 had a visit from a member of The Flood Risk management team. We had fun playing BINGO to learn about animals found in and around the River Tyne. We then found out about flooding and what causes it as well as who is effected by flooding.

This week Year 5 began gymnastics with the Grassroots coach. They began working on some basics skills including forward rolls, teddy bear rolls and pencil rolls. They then moved onto some more complicated partner balances which included the ‘bunk bed’ and the ‘frog”

As part of our Monster Mash Up morning, KS2 investigated how different ingredients changed the witches potions as they observed what happened  in their different recipes.

Year 5 have spent this half term learning the skills to play tag rugby. They have been learning about the rules of the game and have applied their skills during a tournament in which they played against their classmates during our last two sessions. During our Science mix-up morning, KS2 created their own Halloween themed optical illusions. They then researched what an optical illusion is and how it can trick our brains into thinking something is what it isn’t!
