They visited the DIG museum and found out all about the role of archaeologists and even had a go at digging for artefacts themselves.

During their visit to the Jorvik centre they got to experience what life was like for the Vikings - even the smell! Back at DIG they took part in a workshop all about Viking battle tactics ; exploring the different weapons that would have been used and how the Vikings fought their battles.

They drew sketch maps of what they could see as well as looking at the land use and counting the number of cars to allow us to compare this with our visits to Corbridge and Tynemouth.

We then headed to Kielder castle for lunch and even got the chance to see the osprey nests via a live video field! Before we left we headed to the Minotaur maze which the children completed in record time!

We also found out about links between climate change and flooding. From this we discussed renewable sources of energy to help slow down the effects of global warming.

The theme this year is food and we had great fun taking part in a few fun food themed quizzes. We had to guess higher or lower for the amount of sugar in different foods before we had our chocolate bar knowledge tested! The librarians even shared a few food themed jokes with us!

We then had the opportunity to choose a book each to take back to school to read.

The show was amazing and very true to the book. The whole class  ( as well as the staff) thoroughly enjoyed it!

We all had an amazing time and even got to meet the cast after the show as they left the theatre!

It was definitely a trip to remember!

They learnt how to deliver CPR to children and adults, using dummies to practise their technique. The children also learnt how to use a defibrillator, using a demonstration machine. Here are what just some of the children had to say about their experience:

* ‘That was inspirational! Sergio didn’t give up trying to set up his charity!’
* ‘I’ll never forget how to do CPR now!’
* ‘That was the best assembly we’ve had!’
* ‘It made me emotional – he didn’t give up and I know I can do anything now.’

They have found out about how the constellations link to different animal names and how the planets in our solar system are named after Roman gods and goddesses.

They then spent time in the planetarium having a tour of space before a workshop all about our place in space and the role the moon plays with the tides. They had the opportunity to look at different animals that are found in tidal habitats.

There was the opportunity to ask her some questions about the Habitation pods that they are designing to send people to the Moon in. This was very exciting as one of our questions was chosen! We all shared ideas about what things should be in the Habitation pods.
