The children in Nursery and Reception have enjoyed lots of special Christmas activities. They wore some super Christmas jumpers, looked very cosy on our Polar Express Day and even had a wonderful Christmas party, with a special visitor!

EYFS and KS1 film night – Arthur Christmas

EYFS , Year 1 and Year 2 had a brilliant time at their film night. They loved their cookies and hot chocolate whilst watching the film. The tuck shop was very popular and children enjoyed using the money they had brought to pay for their treats. They behaved amazingly and we were super proud.

EYFS Bonfire Party

The children in Nursery and Reception thoroughly enjoyed their bonfire party yesterday. They had some tasty hot chocolate, hot dogs and even some edible chocolate sparklers!

The children in Nursery have throughly enjoyed reading and retelling the story of The Gingerbread Man, particularly joining in with the repeated refrain! Inspired by the story, they have also decorated gingerbread men, built bridges to help him cross the river and even baked their very own gingerbread men!

World Book Day in Nursery

The children in Nursery enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. They looked fantastic and shared their love of stories. They also had to use the objects in the basket to guess what the story was.

Lunar New Year

Early Years have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Lunar New Year. We have found out lots of facts, read stories and enjoyed a yummy banquet!

Nursery Visit Blaydon Library

We had a fantastic time at the library, where we listened to a story, sang some songs and did a Christmas scavenger hunt. We also spotted lots of different shops we recognised in Blaydon!

Nursery Christmas Party

Nursery had a fantastic time at their Christmas party! They enjoyed lots of dancing, party games and some yummy food! They all looked fabulous in their party clothes.

Nursery have throughly enjoyed learning about space. They have enjoyed playing in the role play area, singing songs and even made some pizza planets!

What’s the weather like?

In Nursery, the children have been interested in the weather so we explored this further. They shared their experiences and talked about their favourite types of weather – playing in the rain and snow was very popular! Lots of fun was had, particularly making kites and making rain in the water tray.

Handa’s Surprise

In Nursery, this week, we have been reading the story Handa’s Surprise. We have talked about healthy and unhealthy food and taking care of our bodies. We have also sequenced the story together, role played in our fruit and vegetable shop and made some delicious smoothies. We enjoyed trying the different fruit and described how it tasted.

Remembrance Day in Nursery

In Nursery, we have been learning about Remembrance Day, We watched the CBeebies Poppies animation and talked about why we wear a poppy.

Little Kickers

Nursery enjoyed their first Little Kickers session on Friday. They sorted cones by colour in the warm up, practised using different kicks and even scored some goals! They are looking forward to next week already!

Nursery have had a fantastic week preparing for Bonfire Night. On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have a visit from some real fire fighters – we had a look at the fire engine and used the hose to spray water. We talked about how to stay safe on Bonfire Night. In the classroom, we have been getting dressed for Bonfire Night in the home corner, made fireworks using our sparkly playdough and used our mark making skills to make firework patterns in glitter. To end our celebrations, we had a bonfire party with Reception on Friday. We sat around the bonfire, enjoyed some yummy treats and even heard some fireworks.

Autumn days in Nursery

The children in Nursery have been exploring the season of autumn. They have made vegetable soup and have done lots of autumn crafts. They also went on their first trip outside of nursery and went for a walk in the local area to see autumn in action, observing leaves that had changed colour. Finally, they thoroughly enjoyed finding out about hedgehogs and even made some yummy hedgehog bread!

Halloween

Nursery have had lots of fun celebrating Halloween. We made salt dough treats to use in our trick or treat role play area, made some tasty pumpkin spice scones and talked about our Halloween plans.

Soft Play

Our Nursery Superstars

The Nursery children have settled wonderfully this week. They are already showing fantastic independence skills, finding their peg, taking off their own coats and following our Nursery rules. We have had lots of fun playing and exploring and even made some pizzas that look like us!
